The most widely played card game of all is that of blackjack. All around the world millions of people are playing this game each day. The odds of you winning at blackjack depend on the strategies that you employ. There are several blackjack betting strategies and here are a few of them.

The basic strategy
This strategy allows you to check on what game to play depending on the dealer’s upcard. In this strategy we look at Hard hands, Soft hands and Paired hands. Hard hands are usually un-paired cards that do not contain any aces. On average, most of the starting hands that you receive from the dealer will be hard hands. If you get hard hands of less than 8 then you should ask for a hit. This is simply because you cannot double down or split such a hand. A hard hand of more than 8 should give you the opportunity to double down. Soft hands are starting hands that have a single ace in them. The name refers to the fact that they never bust when you hit them with an extra card. You may hit a soft hand and turn it into a hard hand. They may also stay soft.
Paired hands are starting hands that have two identical card values. Since all face cards are considered as 10, then any two, such as a KQ or QJ are considered a pair of 10’s. The best option here is to split the cards into two hands. This gives you an additional bet for the new hand. You should however never split a pair of 5’s and you should play them like a hard had of 10.
Card Counting
Card counting is a more advanced blackjack betting strategies concept. It does not involve counting the value of all cards dealt. It involves assigning values to a range of cards. When you have cards that are ranging between 2 and 6 then you should add a point for every appearance. When you have cards ranging above 10 then you should subtract a point for every appearance. All cards between 7 and 10 are considered neutral cards and should never affect the total value played. The total is known as the running count and it determines the way you place your bets. If the value is negative, then you should not place high bets. When the card count is high then the odds are in your favor and you can place high bets.
Betting ramps
This is another blackjack betting strategies method that is based on card counting. The player gradually increases hiss or her bets whenever they have a card count that is to their advantage and gradually reduces the bets when the count is in the dealer’s advantage. This method also serves to disguise your card counting technique since it makes the dealer feel that your bets are always neutral. Here you can start by placing a bet of two hips and increasing by two as the count goes to your advantage and then dropping back to four chips whenever you lose.
